Sony Might Release High Performance PS4 With More Memory, GPU, CPU and Ultra HD Blu-ray Support

Microsoft is not the only one providing regular updates to Xbox One and improving its performance, their arch rival is not too far behind, as per the details recently shared by Sony Computer Entertainment Executive Vice President, Masayasu Ito, in a recent interview to our friend at 4Gamer. Ito confirmed that Sony is toying with many ideas for PlayStation 4 including the one about releasing a high-performance PlayStation 4. Ito might have hinted here a new PlayStation 4 SKU with some upgrade with CPU, GPU and memory.

This idea of releasing high performance looks pretty slim because it would be better for Sony release PlayStation 4 in around next five or six years rather than going for the upgrade version of PlayStation 4.

Additionally, Masayasu hinted that Ultra HD Blu-ray support might arrive in PlayStation 4, but this is also under consideration. You can check out the translation of 4Gamer interview below (thanks to NeoGaf):

On PlayStation VR, Ito said: "Prices and release date will be announced when it is time."

On 4K Blu-ray/Ultra HD Blu-ray: "Current PS4 doesn't support Ultra HD Blu-ray, and Support is still under consideration."

On PS4 Performance Boost: "Can't talk about the specific content. Thinks performance boost might require a lot of timing when using something better than x86 architecture. So in other words, it is possible. For example, there are ideas such as releasing a standard PS4 and a high-performance PS4."
