PlayStation 4 Disc Read Error Might Depend On Firmware 3.0 Recently Installed

PlayStation 4 users are claiming a widespread issue regarding a disc read error, possibly introduced by the recent firmware 3.0. It must be observed, anyway, that the problem looks to be presenting also in circumstances without any connection with the new firmware.

According to a member of the American PlayStation community, “when I put a new disc in the system, the drive spins up, but the PS4 doesn't see that the disc has been inserted. If I restart the system with the disc in, it sees the disc without issue.”

Other users claim the issue has begun very recently. For example, Reddit user Holypotatao states “it started when I got ESO a few days ago, it wouldn't register I put it in the disk tray. But when I restarted it, it would read it just fine”, while others confirm “happened to me with Arkham Knight yesterday. Tried a different disc, would read it. Had to reset to get it to read any games”.

Many gamers are convinced the disc read error issue is linked to the new firmware, but a few of them on NeoGaf and a couple other communities say they have not the firmware 3.0 installed, so it looks hard to believe this depends on it.
