MGS V: The Phantom Pain Early Owner Addresses Top Three Criticism: Sparse Story, Empty World, Useless Lethal Weapons

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will arrive on retail shelves on September 1 (Officially), however few lucky gamers have already received their legit retail copy early (mostly PlayStation 4 version) all thanks to retailers breaking the street date. Reddit user "zamakhtar" is among one of these few lucky gamers who got copy of The Phantom Pain early, and has already played first 7 Missions.

In a thread on Reddit, zamakhtar clarified/assuage few fears about the criticisms Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has received. Don't worry, all the details provided by Zamakhtar is Spoiler free. He addresses a total of three main criticisms The Phantom Pain has received: "Story is sparse, World is empty, not much to do apart from infiltrate base, and Lethal Weapon are useless".

On topic of Story is Sparse, Zamakhtar said:

"So far, I do not feel this way at all. Not all of the main missions offer story, and the side ops haven't had any story so far, but certain main missions are heavily story-centric and have awesome cutscenes. The story feels very Metal Gear but with more realism and a serious tone. The tapes are a lot like codec calls and fill in a lot of the details as well. As for Keifer, he doesn't talk that much but he talks enough to get his points across."

On topic of The world is empty and there's not much to do aside from infiltrate bases, Zamakhtar clarified:

"This one is totally false. The world is filled with stuff to do. This is a Metal Gear game so base infiltration is the focus of course. But the mission vareity so far is stellar and the environments you have to sneak through are all varied. There are many things to collect all over the world for Motherbase which can take up a lot of time between missions."

Last but not the least, on topic of Lethal weapons are useless and non-lethal weapons are only developed in late game, Zamakhtar said:

"Patently false on both counts. Lethal weapons are incredibly useful. Look, the first time you do a mission it may be hard to do it perfectly, so you may have to kill a few people. Plus, you don't need to fulton everyone, and can focus on fultoning people with good stats and killing the others. Unlike in other MGS games, you are not penalized for killing. If you want to stick to non-lethal, you do get the chance to develop more of them from the start. "

Zamakhtar concluded with these wordings:

"Overall, this game is an absolute blast to play. It is a Metal Gear fan's fantasy. Imagine Camp Omega times 200 with a ridiculous amount of stuff to do. I don't have a single criticism so far and have been overawed but what I have seen. It's looking to be the best MGS of all time and one of the best games of all time."

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will launch on September 1 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
