Destiny: The Taken King is officially schedule to launch on September 15, but it seems like Destiny Patch 2.0.0 will arrive a one week early i.e. on September 9, according to the details shared by Reddit user "le_bravery". Le_Bravery makes this prediction after going through Bungie's past destiny deployments.
In a thread on Reddit, Le_Bravery stated that after analysing the way Bungie number their releases, the following pattern can be put up:
"<Major Version Number>.<Minor Version Number>.<Patch Number>.<Hotfix Number>
So, for <Major Version>, we havne't seen any changes yet. Minor Version Number has changed with each "Expansion" that we've seen (TDB 1.1, HoW 1.2). The Patch number changes when significant features are added and the hotfix number changes when larger features are enabled (1.1.0.1, 1.2.0.1) or when critical bugs are fixed outside of a patch release.
So far, Bungie has release: 1 Major Revision (1.0) 2 Minor Revisions (1.1.0, 1.2.0) 4 Patch Revisions (1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3, 1.1.1) 18 Hotfix Revisions (too many to name)
As of right now, Bungie has talked about update 2.0.0 coming soon. With their release strategy they'e shown, I think it's fair to expect that 2.0.0 update to hit our consoles about a week before TTK launch. On TTK launch day, I would expect to see a 2.0.0.1 hotfix to enable the new TTK content.
On topic of time prediction of Destiny; The Taken King and Patch 2.0.0, Le_Bravery said:
"I'm expecting 2.0.0.1 hotfix on September 15. On September 9th (Wednesday) I'm expecting 2.0.0. At this time, we'll start seeing Taken throughout all the patrollable planets in Destiny. At that time, it's a toss up of if we'll have quests, more bounty slots, or tower changes. I think the chances are high we'll see a lot of the core destiny changes (Nolan, for example) at this time, because keeping multiple resources around for these things will be space consuming."
In short, Le_Bravery states that Destiny: The Taken King will launch on September 15, but all the economy and base game changes will likely come on September 9 (plus/minus a day or two). Bungie will support Pre-loading content in order to reduce risk of a launch day deployment and continue the hype.
