Konami has announced the three year extension of the exclusive agreement with UEFA for the use of UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in the long-running PES series.
PES has official UEFA rights from 2009 and the extension includes this year’s PES 2016, which will also feature UEFA Super Cup in the Master League mode.
UEFA license has become the biggest point of difference between PES and FIFA series, that was supposed to try and acquire the rights this year but likely failed in doing so. FIFA still retains exclusive rights for several national championships such as the English Barclays Premier League.
Only yesterday, Konami announced PES 2016 will feature Barcelona’s Brazilian forward Neymar Jr. as cover star, in substitution to Bayern Monaco’s Mario Gotze.
